Sunday, April 17, 2011 - You are invited to join the Yale Alumni Service Corps participants in New Haven for an orientation session where you will learn about China, the Yale-China Association, Xiuning, our projects and the plans for our program in July. (It is highly recommended that you attend this but it is not a requirement for participation in the program). If you can, arrive the night before and join the Yale Global Alumni Leadership Exchange for dinner after their training session on April 16.

Flight from U.S. to Shanghai

Day 1 – Friday, July 8, 2011 – Shanghai

Arrive in Shanghai and make your way to the hotel. Get a good night's sleep to be ready
for the program starting in the morning
Overnight Shanghai Hotel (to be announced)

Day 2 – Saturday, July 9 - Xiuning
6:00 a.m.    Breakfast and morning meeting at hotel
7:00 a.m.    Bus to Xiuning from Shanghai
9:30 a.m.    Scenic stop in Zhejiang province
12:00 p.m. Scenic stop and lunch in Anhui province
2:00 p.m.    Check-in, rest, explore Smoky Willow
6:00 p.m.    Dinner at Smoky Willow Resort
7:00 p.m.    Informal meet and greet/icebreaker
Overnight   Smoky Willow Resort - West Qiyun Road, Xiuning, Huangshan, Anhui, China

Day 3 – Sunday, July 10 - Xiuning

8:00 a.m.    Breakfast and morning meeting at Smoky Willow
9:00 a.m.    Orientation at Smoky Willow
11:30 a.m. City tour
12:00 p.m. Lunch near Xiuning Middle School
2:00 p.m.    Worksite visits/group planning
5:30 p.m.    Rest at Smoky Willow
6:00 p.m.    Dinner at Smoky Willow Resort

Day 4 – Monday, July 11 - Xiuning

7:00 a.m.    Breakfast and morning meeting at Smoky Willow
8:00 a.m.    Buses to Worksites
8:30 a.m.    On-site project work
             Athletics - basketball, soccer clinics
                   Arts – work with children of all ages on drawing, painting, etc
                   Construction – at the school
                   Education – help the students with their English
                   Environment – under discussion
                   Medical Project – work with local doctors at the hospital and clinic
                   Business Consulting – work with small business owners

12:00 p.m. Lunch at Huangshan
1:00 p.m.   Sightseeing at Huangshan
6:30 p.m.   Dinner and exploring in Tunxi

1:30 p.m.    Enjoy the scenery of Hangzhou

                   Flight to Beijing

Day 12 – Tuesday, July 19 - Beijing

7:00 a.m.    Breakfast and morning meeting at Beijing hotel
8:00 a.m.    All day sightseeing at Forbidden City/Tiananmen Square
12:00 p.m. Lunch during excursion
7:00 p.m.    Dinner with YaleGALE and Yale Club of Beijing

Day 13 – Wednesday, July 20 - Beijing

7:00 a.m.    Breakfast and morning meeting at Beijing hotel
9:00 a.m.    YGALE World Alumni Leadership Conference/Optional sightseeing
12:00 p.m. Lunch at Conference or on-your-own
2:00 p.m.    Beijing Old Architecture Tour - specially planned tour by Alex Kerr '74 for our Yale participants
6:00 p.m.    Dinner on your own

Day 14 – Thursday, July 21 - Beijing

7:00 a.m.    Breakfast and morning meeting at Beijing hotel
8:30 a.m.    All day excursion including lunch to the Great Wall - Mutianyu entrance
3:30 p.m.    Time to do some shopping in Beijing
7:00 p.m.    Gala Farewell Dinner
Overnight    Beijing hotel

Day 15 – Friday, July 22 – Beijing/home or extension with YGALE

7:00 a.m.    Breakfast at Beijing hotel
   Airport transfer or stay in Beijing and continue on with the Yale Global
                 Alumni Leadership Exchange for another day in Beijing and then to Xi'an
                   and Shanghai (visit www.yalegale.org for more information.)
